" rel="nofollow - Hi All,

I recently tried to update the BIOS on my Fatal1ty X99M Killer/3.1 motherboard , before the update everything was working fine, except for intel turbo boost. The turbo boost was listed in my system manager (windows 10) as this device cannot start. From what I read a BIOS update was a likely fix.

After the update was done via the BIOS internet update option from within the BIOS, the board asked to reboot. Upon reboot the machine started up, was on for 30 seconds, and then turns off. There is nothing on the screen when this happens, no beeps from the pc speaker, and switching between the BIOS A ro B does nothing. I have tried resetting the CMOS via the instructions in the manual but nothing has worked.

Is there anything else I can do or is the board dead?

" rel="nofollow - Try this method to fully clear CMOS:

I would leave the system disconnected from power with the battery out over night in your case. Let us know if that does the trick.

Good luck.

Im having the same issue, but with a 370Z Killer sli/ac.

I installed windows 10, installed updates, used asrock APP to download and install device updates. And i  believe it also flashed the BIOS, did its restarts and worked fine for about 2 or 3 hours. Next thing i know, PC froze and waited for it to respond, but never did. Rebooted the hard way, and never did its POST again, no display, no sounds. It now just spins for about 20 - 30 seconds, then shut off and starts again for another 20 - 30 seconds.

I tried unplugging every devices one at a time until it was only onboard video card and CPU running, still does the same thing. Tried cmos reset, nothing.

Now im worried because ive already sent my mail in rebate to Asrock with the EAN code from the box (i did scan a copy) but im not sure newegg is going to let me replace it :/.

" rel="nofollow - I tried leaving the cmos reset overnight and that did nothing either. ASRock support hasn't gotten back to me and it's been about 4 days. What's the issue there?

I almost got burned by the rebate offer as well. I've now realized that they're simply not worth it. They give you like 5 days from the date of purchase to mail the barcode from the box or you don't get the rebate. On the downside this often involves having to send in for the rebate before you've thoroughly tested your new board. In my case I was having booting issues with my 370 Z Killer and was simply going to return it to Newegg until I read in the returns section that you cannot return any hardware after you have sent in for a rebate or after you've removed the barcode from the box. Fortunately I found that I had incompatible memory and got mine working without issue, but in the future I'm going to disregard the rebate entirely since it carries too much risk. In fact, I think the whole purpose of mail in rebates is to save Newegg and others sellers money by getting consumers to screw themselves out of a free return of their items.

I also have the same problem, although I updated both bios A & B to version 4.
the problem persisted even before I update the bios. it was a power failure I think.
if you have any news about this issue please help.

thanks

I wound up contacting Asus directly after the BIOS issues, I had to call them. The Bios that the board downloaded on it's own through the update utility does not work! It's the wrong BIOS, and that is what borked my board.

I got Asus to send me a new bios chip under warranty and I replaced one chip. I then used the new working chip to replace BIOS B I now have a fully working board again. I was not able to solve the issue with turbo boost, but at least my board is working again.

I don't understand how an auto update program could corrupt/download the wrong bios like that, but this seems to be what happened.
