Hello to all,
I replaced mb, cpu and memory to my old PC (fully functional) with a Z97 asrock pro4, an i5 4460 and 8gb of ram HyperX fury 1866.
What I noticed is that when i first start the computer has not shown signs of life. Then, after disconnecting a USB device back (it was a hub with mouse, webcam and bluetooth dongle) th pc has started successfully (usually with a pair of 'fake start').
With the pc turned on and reconnecting the cable the usb devices have no working problems (the mouse worked in the bios), but i'm forced to start the PC with the cable disconnected, which is very uncomfortable.
The same problem occurred with a front USB device different from the previous.
I notice also that the mb will not reboot when i reboot windows, but i've to press the reset switch manually after windows shutdown or press the power button for 5 seconds to fully turn off the mb and turn on again. This happens also when i shutdown windows, the mb doesn't turn off (case fan continue to work until i press the power button for 5 seconds).
I notice also that the boot screen (that with "Press F2 to Enter bios or F11 to boot menu") seems to 'stay' for a long time (30-40 seconds) with a "A2" in the lower right corner.
According to you is an electronic problem and the MB is to be returned to vendor or is there anything I can do to fix it?
I updated the bios to the latest version (2.20), but nothing has changed.
Occasionally I find myself with the error "Disk Read Error. Press Ctrl-Alt-Del to reboot" after the operations of the boot as if he saw the ssd.
The same pc with the old MB, proc and memories all works correctly.
Thanks for the suggestions...

I'm seeing a similar problem where my mobo started having issues waking up form sleep and booting.
I've narrowed it down to having USB devices plugged in: as long as I unplug my mouse and keyboard for ~15 seconds before powering up, it'll boot fine. If I simply try to start without unplugging them first, it won't POST. the mobo had worked fine for ~2 months and I don't know why it started behaving this way. I don't think it's faulty devices as it happens with any device (including usb cam).

You have multiple devices connected to the USB hub, but did not try removing each one, one at a time to see if you could find the offending device.

I've had your shutdown problem on a different board, happened after cloning the OS from one drive to another. Must be a Windows corruption issue IMO. How yours happened, only you have a chance of knowing.

Try starting the PC in Safe Mode, and shutdown from there, to see if it makes a difference.

hi, with Asrock support help i solve some problem by reset cmos and install a beta bios they send me but some issue are unresolved like the problem with the usb devices. I try to disconnect each one usb devices but the mb with some of them won't boot. In some case it boot after some 'fake boot' (the mb start and after one second it turn off automatically then re-start again). Usually, after 3-4 fake boot,  i've to press the reset button before the start button to turn it on. If i don't press the reset button the mb seems die (like with no ac power). There isn't one offending usb devices. The mb won't start with 5-6 usb devices connected (i've 2 gamepad, one webcam, one rempte controller, bt dongle, mouse and keyboard). The best solution i found is to start the mb with only usb mouse and keyboard and connect the other devices after boot. It seems to work but it's uncomfortable. At first I think the mb was a faulty device, but now i'm 90% sure that the problem involves the pro4 z97 series.
Do you have this behavior too?
Thanks

Just to confirm - same here. If mains 220V power if cut off mainboard won't start without removing ALL USB devices (Mouse, KB, Gamepad, BT 2.1 dongle). All above devices did not produced problem before upgrade on old ASUS H81M-PLUS MB. Problem exists with all of BIOS versions which are released on site and with removed external video card. When power is restored my wireless keyboard led begins to blink intensively like 5V standby power is unstable and nothing happens until ALL devices are removed for a first start (removal one by one does not resolve problem). PSU (Chieftec  CFT-750-14c) is not problematic as I have changed it with another one (Seasonic 500W) and problem persisted.

Finally i solved three months ago with another z97 pro4 MB. I think it was a faulty device. The new one works great!
