Subject: Can?™t disable Core Performance Boost

" rel="nofollow - I?™ve AB350 Pro4 with Ryzen 7 1700. I cannot disable Core Performance Boost. I select in BIOS this option to be disable and save it, but on every reboot this option is BIOS is again setup on auto. I?™ve tried BIOS 4.70 and 4.60 and both are doing same thing. Also in Win I can see that CPU is boosting to 3.7GHz which means that Performance Boost is not disable. What I?™m missing here or doing wrong.
Please do no comment why I want to disable it. Thanks

" rel="nofollow - Before you disable Turbo Boost, make sure you select "AMD CBS Settings" instead of "ASRock Settings" in "OC Tweaker" page. Before doing this make sure you select your memory XMP settings because after that you will loose access to the memory speed menu in OC Tweaker, instead you will need to go in "/ADVANCED/AMD CBS" and change your settings from there, which is a pain in the a**.
You cannot disable Turbo Boost if you want to use "ASRock Settings" for overclocking, you will need to switch to "AMD CBS Settings" and do your overclock/settings from there, but why would you want to disable Turbo?

Have a nice day

" rel="nofollow - Sorry my mistake as I didn?™t explain properly.
I was trying to disable it under Advanced/AMD CBS. So it is still not working.

I need this machine to work on without that auto OC, and any other OC. Thanks

I understand, but in OC tweaker you need to change "OC mode switch" from "ASRock settings" to "AMD CBS settings", then you can go in /Advanced/AMD CBS and disable turbo and it will stick
Here is a picture of the option

I forgot to mention, Core Performance Boost is not really an overclock, its just like Intel Turbo Boost, AMD tested and confirmed in factory that the CPU is capable of sustaining that Turbo Boost without any problems, if its a production machine you could disable it but you should have no problems whatsoever with it enabled, its not a OC, its the max default frequency of the CPU that on Ryzen 1xxx is aplicable to 1-2 Cores and not all 8 in case of the 1700/1700X/1800X

As you have said, switching to AMD CBS I was able to disable Core Performance Boost. This machine will use almost all cores all the time. With disabling boost this CPU from 3.2GHz @1.2V went to 3GHz@1V. In my opinion 200MHz is not worthed 0.2V and additional heat.
Once more, thank you.

Oh yes, that happens, on my 2400G disabling CPB also lowers the MAX voltage under load from 1.4275V to 1.225V, but the CPU is limited to 3.6GHz all cores, on the 2400 I can get all cores to boost to 3.8GHz under load, the 2xxx series have a more granular turbo. But on the 1xxx I think its limited to first 2 cores. And as you said its not really worth the added heat.

Have a nice day :)

Thank you everyone here in this forum . Because of you guys , i was able to bring down my CPU/GPU - RYZEN 5 3400G temperatures from 85°c to 63°c (On stress test like Cinebench R20) at cost of neglible performance (0.2%).

I disabled "Cpu Performance Boost" in Asrock UEFI by navigating - Advanced/AMD CBS/Cpu Performance Boost (auto to disabled).

Thanks once again ! This form was a lifesaver to me ??.

Thanks once again ! This form was a lifesaver to me .This Performance Mode could have been detrimental to cpu life and could have damaged it .
