I have just realized that I have installed my CMK16GX4M2B3200C16 1R memory sticks into the A2 and B2 memory sloths. I started investigating as I am getting repeated "MEMORY MANAGEMENT" BSOD errors.

Are my memory sticks damaged to the point where i will need replacements or will swapping them to the correct sloths be enough to fix my issues

BTW... I have the X370 Killer SLI/AC motherboard on P4.50

You cannot damage a memory module by plugin it in a slot, if its DDR4 it will work in any slot if its a DDR4 slot, Ryzen 1xxx and 2xxx have dual channel and 4 slots max, you can plug any memory module in any of the 4 slots (on ATX) and 4 or 2 slots on M-ATX/ITX, be them slots A1/2 B1/2 its just a different channel A and B, it does not matter that much, but they usually recommend starting with channel A slot 1 and 2, but for dual channel to work you need to use both channel A and B at the same time, so plug them in A1 and B1, but if you plug them say in A2 B1 or A1 B2 its the same thing.

@cristy6100

My question came from the fact that the manual states the A2 B2 only support 2R memory and I have 1R memory. Plus, while researching the "MEMORY MANAGEMENT" BSOD error, I saw post here where it was resolved by swapping memory slots.

If I remember right 1R and 2R refers to Single-Rank and Dual-Rank memory, I never heard of Single-Rank or Dual-Rank working only in one of the Slots/Channels, but maybe I need to learn more on the new platforms :)
You can try swaping the slots but it should not matter,  only of AMD did something strange with the memory controller should the slots and order matter.
This only someone with more info on this matter can clarify

Have a nice day

" rel="nofollow - a2 and b2 ARE the slots to use for 2 sticks

question ?

have you set xmp to 3200 ?

if so this is far far more likely to be the cause of the memory issues

the ram just isnt that good ,and the am4 boards just are not that forgiving
the xmp is certified for intel systems not am4

the good news ?
if its booting xmp3200 then the settings are very close to being stable

read the threads from today where i have helped a guy get his corsair working ,and follow the solution of using the ryzen ram calculator to fine tune your ram sticks manually

@datonyb

I did a Memtest 1 stick at a time and one stick is giving a lot of errors. So I will have to RMA the pair but I am starting to find out the RMA process with Corsair is very sh*tty.
