" rel="nofollow - Updated the BIOS on my Taichi X370/1700X system. The settings I have bee using forever are: OC Mode Chage Switch-ASRock Setting (???) Over Clock Mode-Manual CPU Frequency and Voltage Change-Manual CPU Frequency-3875 CPU Voltage-1.35625 Load XMP Setting-Profile 1 (Flare X Memory 3200-14) CPU LLC-Level 2 VDDCR LLC-Level 2 Everything else is pretty much set to the defaults. Under Bios 3.2 all was well according to AMD Ryzen Master and CPUZ. The system down clocked when idle and the Vcore dropped accordingly. Now with Bios 4.6 the system does not down clock but the Vcore does drop when the system is idle. Both AMD Ryzen Master and CPUZ 1.84 report the same thing. What am I missing? Is there another Bios setting I need to play with to get back to "Normal" or is this just progress?

| Try setting your OC to anything that ends in 25. Example: 3.825ghz or 3.725ghz. I have this same problem on Bios 4.4 for my ASRock Fatal1ty AB350 itx. This is the only thing that solves it for me. If it ends in 0, 50, or 75, mine won't down clock for me either. I'm hoping this will work for you too. |

There are still bugs present in the Bios of many ASRock AM4 boards. Dram voltage resetting is another one that I get, along with this down clock issue. I plan on updating mine too. |

| ASRock setting in newer BIOS is what you don't want to use in the newer BIOS if you are trying to get it to downclock. Use P-state overclocking with AMD CBS option instead. |

The ASRock OC mode actually changes P-0 on my board. I get the same result if I do it through AMD CBS too. I still end up with the same C-states available. It still just refuses to down clock if the multiplier doesn't end in 25. |

Yes, it's supposed to change it. Change to AMD CBS mode. Use offset voltage, set P-state 0 FID only. Post your settings when you do it, so we can make sure you are doing it correctly.

Dont change CPU Multi in Bios higher as P.4.40 if you not will loss a lot of Bandwidth of Memory and Caches (AGESA 1.0.0.1a + has a Bug). Change it in Windows with AMD Master Tool. Then aso downclock works. If you still would use P-State, just set P0, P1 and P2 (for me it works) to Custom. And Change only P0.

Voltage reduces when Idle but the system does not downclock. The second set of settings used to work way back on Bios day 1 or 2. Then somewhere along the way ASrock fixed the Bios so that the standard Advanced OC settings worked. Now it looks like they've take three steps backword! The only thing I haven't tried is clearing the Bios and then just setting Pstate0. You still have the same problem because you aren't doing it correctly. AMD CBS Setting Voltage Mode = Stable Mode CPU Core Voltage = Offset (Value of what it takes to hit 1.35) CPU LLC = Level 2 SOC Voltage = Auto SOC LLC = Level 2 Pstate 0 = Custom Pstate 0 FID = 9b (play with this to get your desired overclock) All other pstates at auto. In Windows after you are done, you need to change the power plans minimum processor state to 25% or 50%. Your computer wasn't downclocking properly before either, cause what you had was an all core overclock.

I had the minmum power setting in the AMD Ryzen Power Plan set to 40%. That worked several Bios's ago!! I changed it to 50% as you suggested. Bottom line the system will not down clock but does drop the voltage when idle. I wonder what advantage there is down clocking since the system idles at 24C. Just an aside, it appears I have to go to into ASRock Settings to set the memory to Profile 1?! I know it isn't ideal, but its the only thing that works for me, and I'm curious if it works for you too. I have the same problem on my Fatal1ty AB350 itx. It won't down clock any other way if I OC it. |

Are you still loading up Ryzen Master? Cause if so, that's your problem. It's more than likely overriding your changes you are making in BIOS when you load it, hence why it doesn't move.

I tried not loading Ryzen Master and that had NO effect. I never used Ryzen Master to try overclock settings so nothing was ever saved by Ryzen Master to override the Bios settings! One more "that's my problem" eliminated. I also tried changing the OC to 3825 and that too had no effect. So...since prior to Bios 4.60 everything was working as advertised I have given up chasing smoke and hope that ASRock fixes the down clocking issue (at least for some of us) in Bios version 4.70. In the meantime it is a minor issue since the voltage drops when the system is idle and the idle temperature is ~24C. Don't know what is going on inside the CPU that could cause a problem running at 3875 @ ~.5 Vcore. Try using an even number in 100's, rather than 25's. I'm not sure why you went with those numbers anyway. So, either use 3800 or 3900 and adjust voltage accordingly.

Everything worked as advertised, the system down clocked and lowered the Vcore when not under load. I tried 3825 based on one of the many suggestions above. I tried 3800 based on the last suggestion and it too had no effect. Where are the experts that will agree that Bios 4.60 is flawed when installed on a Taichi X370 MB. I'm back at it again on my Taichi X370/1700X system. I also have an ROG Hero VII/2700X system and the down clocking works as advertised on that system. I just update the BIOS to P5.50 Set the BIOS to the defaults Made sure everything was set to the standard defaults in OC Tweaker Went to AMC CMS>Zen Common Options>Custom Pstate/Throttling>Accept> Changed Pstate0 to Custom and set Pstate0 FID to 98 PState0 settings: Frequency(mhz) 3800 Voltage(V) 1350000 Pstate0 FID 98 Pstate0 DID 8 Pstate0 VID 20 Pstate1..7 Auto Went back to OC Tweaker and set the XMP to XMP2.0 Profile 1 Changed CPU Vcore Voltage to Offset Mode Set the Offset to 0.00625 Changed the CPU and VDDCR_SOC LLC settings to Level 2 System runs at a fixed 3800 and the Vcore goes up and down based on system load. I cannot find the secret setting(s) that will allow this thing to down clock. I think I have tried every combination of Pstate settings and CPU frequencies and nothing changes when it comes to down clocking the CPU.
