" rel="nofollow - In previous builds I have used SSD's and HDD's, but never an SSD that uses the M.2 interface.  When doing a fresh install of windows 10, the HDD or SSD is always recognized by windows and I never have an issue.  I always use only one storage device on my builds.  I just purchased SAMSUNG 970 PRO M.2 2280 512GB PCIe Gen3. X4, NVMe 1.3 64L V-NAND MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) MZ-V7P512BW from newegg.  I will be installing that into a ASRock Z370 Killer SLI/ac LGA 1151 (300 Series) Intel Z370 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.1 ATX Intel Motherboard.  The M.2 NVME drive will be the only storage device I am using for this build, and I will be doing a fresh install of Windows 10 using a CD and an external CD reader plugged into the USB port.  Will I have any issues with Windows recognizing the M.2 device?  Also any other tips on installing an M.2 device will be greatly appreciated.

Dear Crazylegs104,

Thank you for choosing ASRock.

Regarding your question, because the PCIe NVME SSD only support UEFI/GPT mode, please follow the below steps to install the Windows 10 at UEFI/GPT mode.

1.       Connect the Windows 10 installation CD to the system.

2.       Boot up the system and press the F11 key to enter boot menu.

3.       Select the UEFI installation device.

4.       Install the OS.

Thank you!

Yours truly,

ASRock TSD
