I know there used to be a way to do it back when I was still messing about with QBasic as a kid but I have no idea if it's still possible. I don't see why not, I mean if you play an old DOS game you should still get the beep effects. 

Not really the right place to ask though, this is a hardware forum not a programming forum. I do believe that however it's accessed should be common to all systems though regardless of age and brand. Let us know what you turn up.

There are some ways but if you have the onboard Audio enabled most of the ways will BEEP through the Audio speakers not the pc motherboard speaker. Windows 7 and up redirects BIOS beeps thru Audio once OS is loaded. You can try this: Open a command prompt, type: echo Ctrl+G then hit enter. Note: hold control key when you hit G key.
