Hi, I'm looking at upgrading my X370 from 32G to 64G and looking at the QVL list ( https://www.asrock.com/mb/amd/x370%20taichi/index.asp#Memory" rel="nofollow - https://www.asrock.com/mb/amd/x370%20taichi/index.asp#Memory ) I see that the fastest speed memory that supports 4x sticks of 16G is only clocking in at 2666MHz, which seems like a performance downgrade if I'm currently running 3000MHz. Is this correct?
Also, 'hardinfo2' querying the memory system says that the MB supports up to 128G memory. I just installed the latest non-beta BIOS and maybe I didn't notice this before.. but docs mention 64G max. Does this board support 32G DDR4 memory but just not on the QVL list?
CPU was recently upgraded to Ryzen 9 5950X. I'd like to get to 64G at 3000MHz (or above) if possible... thoughts?

2 DPI (2 DIMMs per Channel) will put more load on the memory controller, which lead to lower max stable memory speeds. Some people get lucky (good match between CPU's memory controller and the DIMMs), but I wouldn't count on that.
Note, adding more DIMMs does increase the number of ranks, so that can help increase performance. It's not a precise rule, but dual-rank DIMM at one step slower speed (e.g 2400MT/s) is supposed to match single-rank DIMM at faster speed (e.g. 2666MT/s).
Old motherboard specs are often outdated. I have a bunch of AsRock AM4 mini-ITX boards that were released long ago. The support page spec says max 32GB memory (16GB+16GB), but that was written before 32GB DDR4 DIMMs became available. I've run 64GB (32GB+32GB) just fine on these motherboards.
Memory controllers really have nothing to do with the motherboard anyway.
