Subject: Computer turns on fans lights work but no display

" rel="nofollow - Just built a new Pc with the ASRock gaming k4. I have the Ryzen 2600x a liquid cooler, 16gb DDR4 ram GSkill egg, GTX 1080ti. When I turn it on the lights all light up including the RGBs on the ram and the led behind the chipset on the motherboard. All fans turn on and spin at low speeds. But no display, nothing on the screen. I attached a sparkler to the motherboard. It occasionally, about once every 8 resets, beeps 1 long beep then 3 short. I looked this up. Some people said it?™s the graphics card but I tried it with a 960 from my old build, it didn?™t work. Other people said it?™s conventional, memory exception. A ram problem, I put the ram in different slots, made sure it?™s seated correctly, tried only one stick, to no avail. I can?™t locate the issue, I wanna say it?™s the ram or motherboard but it lights up fine, and all the other components seem to work. I?™m not sure what it could be. The only thing I can think of is possibly a standoff with no screw underneath it, but I honestly don?™t know.

I bet you it's the fact that you aren't running a bios capable of running the 2600x.  You may need to flash your bios to one that enables support for the Ryzen 2 series CPUs.

ok a few thoughts
1 we have seen boxes saying updated bios that havnt actually been updated
2 try a different type of lead from gpu to monitor e.g display port or hdmi
3 post the actual model of ram eg tridentz ripjaws etc with the speed and timings so we can try and work out if ram might be an issue

" rel="nofollow - It?™s Gskill Trident Z at 3200mhz you think that could be too fast for the motherboard? Also while searching for the ram, i saw that it said (for AMD) my box has an Intel symbol on it. You think the ram is incompatible with my CPU dispite the RGBs on it lighting up?

its not the gskill with the samsung b dies (the nice one) but it shouldnt stop the board from booting to bios
have you confirmed the 24 pin power is connected nicely (you know you often have to fiddle with the extra 4 pin on that 20/24 to make sure its seated under the plastic edge of the 20 pin moulding ?

also to check and confirm the 4+4 (8pin) cable marked cpu/eps is connected to top left corner of the board ? make sure this isnt a pcie gpu cable instead

and lastly what dam gaming k4 board the x470 or the x370 ?

its a lot easier to help you if you help US by letting us know exactly what parts your using
we also need to know your psu make and model

right the psu is 'just' about high enough, 1080ti needs a 600w
and to be fair your loading the 'other' parts a bit much

but that shouldnt stop the boot to bios
have you tried checking the cables yet ?

also try
only having the cpu+fan, one stick of ram in a2 and gpu connected

no drives yet  be warned the first initial boot of the am4 can take a few mins to spring to life

" rel="nofollow - I have not connected any drives, and I have tried the one ram with GPU didn?™t work, I?™m going to do a setup of just the mobo ram and GPU to see if that boots.

Just did an open bench run just the motherboard cpu ram and GPU and still nothing

" rel="nofollow - The monitor is getting a signal but there?™s nothing on it. I haven?™t heard the 1 long 3 short beeps.since I put it outside of the case.

" rel="nofollow - Ok I think it?™s the ram. I tired them each separately in the A2 slots one module gave me 3 beeps which translates to      Basic memory 64K address check error and the other gives me 1 long 3 short Conventional/Extended memory failure. So I think that it?™s the ram. I think it?™s because it could be designed for intel CPUs. On the side a sticker reads Intel XMP ready. I also checked gskill website and there indeed 2 lineups of this ram.

" rel="nofollow - Not really actually there?™s just smart phone and laptop. I am more hanncertain it?™s he ram. 1. The ram model I have is not listed in the page for compatibility of ram 2. Both beeps that I get from the mobo translate to ram errors 3. The mobo and cpu seem to work seeing as they can get the fans going. And I find it highly unlikely that the bios is the problem. They put the sticker on the box, it?™s also on Newegg, and the sticker on the motherboard was mostl likely removed by he factory after the update. I find it highly unlikely for them to do all of that and not actually update the bios.

It's always recommended that you look at the compatible RAM list for the motherboard before you go buying any hardware that isn't on the list.

" rel="nofollow - Yea and I thought that I had gotten the right ram, gskill makes that same ram but (for AMD) I thought that I was getting that, but I didn?™t bother to compare the model numbers to that list.

If its a B-Die you could easily change the timings to other approved ram timings. Not being on the QVL list doesn't always mean it doesn't work.
