" rel="nofollow - Hi Asrock I was searching the web to find out how to get access to the IEEE1284 parallel port on my Z97 Pro4 motherboard.  I need to know about the following:
-where do I get a suitable connector to install onto the back of the PC that has the right cable to connect to the MOBO?
-where is the header that I connect it to on the MOBO?

It seems like there are some sparse indications on the web that the board has IEEE1284 capability but so far I have not been able to find any info in the user manual about this.

I'm well aware that USB solutions exist for the parallel port but not interested in using any of them.  A parallel port driver is being loaded against this board in linux, so I know the hardware is present.  I just need to get access to the hardware signals.

Thanks for any info.

-Jay

" rel="nofollow - Unfortunately there is no Parallel port header, only a COM port header. The board I.C. that supplies the COM port probably also contains a parallel port circuit and so Linux detects it. I suggest getting a PCI or PCIe parallel port adapter, they run about $15-$20. Something like these:
