Hi there,

since I suspect a bug I thought this to be the approbriate forum section.

I recently got myself a better cooler and tried to overclock my Ryzen 1700 to 3.8GHz. Everything went fine, did pass the stress test at 1.5V. When trying to lower voltage I discovered that the CPU clock is stuck at 1550Mhz.
At first I thought it off as a misreading, however the performance is in fact graveley lower that with stock clocks.

So far it seems like I can overclock safely up to 3.75GHz at 1.3V. Everything above is unstable, and by raising the voltage past 1.3V I get this odd behaviour where the CPU is stuck at 1550Mhz.

Any ideas on how to fix this strange phenomenon?

" rel="nofollow - How are you overclocking? and fire up cpu-z and find out what FSB & multiplier are set to make it 1550Mhz then you could start from there to know what strange settings that you've done to make it that way

Overclocking via BIOS, fixed CPU Voltage and LLC on level 2.

I forgot to mention:
It's only stuck at 1550MHz for the first boot for the day. When running the system for a while at 3.7GHz, I can clock as high as 3.8GHz afterwards.
The next day the system will start again at 1550Mhz again however, unless clocked down to 3.7GHz again.
Note that no settings are changed overnight in the BIOS.

" rel="nofollow - I think it has something to do with Idle-States. Maybe the processor is stuck in warm-up?

" rel="nofollow - hahah i'll ask again how are you overclocking via multiplier , blclk, p-states.

can it be CnQ? but i'm not sure if they clock that low because lowest i've seen on mine are 3ghz-ish

Overclocking via multiplier. CnQ is disabled.

Not the only one with this problem:

" rel="nofollow - Sounds like the CPU multiplier bug...

What board are you using, what BIOS version are you using?

agreed 99% sure its a cpu with the multi bug

the cure i believe was to use offset voltage

I had the same problem, nothing I did could fix this until I updated my bios to version 4.x.  Looking at the bios versions for your board, you need to install the 3.5 bios (bridge) and then install the latest bios.  This should fix your multiplier bug and let you get your overclock.

" rel="nofollow - Sorry, been on vacation and wasn't able to look into this again until today.

So I updated my BIOS to 4.80. Lot of different options now in the OC-Tab. After entering my settings I noticed that they won't be accepted any longer by the system. I can enter them without problem, but the CPU won't clock higher than the default 3.3GHz.

What am I missing here?
