" rel="nofollow - I am having a difficult time trying to find e-sata and firewire pci-e cards that are compatible with this board. What gives? Why is this board so picky about pci-e devices?

I had one firewire 400 card that worked, but I'm needing a firewire 800 and e-sata cards for two of my devices. I've tried 2 e-sata cards, and 2-firewire 800 cards, and neither are detected in any of the pci-e 1x or 16x slots.

" rel="nofollow - Do they get enumerated at all in the OS? (e.g. do they show up in the Hardware or Components sections of the System Information app). I vaguely recall that recent versions of the major OS's have locked down support for devices that do DMA (Direct Memory Access) pretty tight, and firewire/eSata both use DMA as far as I know. I think it might also have something to do with IOMMU, but I can't remember any specifics unfortunately :/

No they don't show up in device manager at all. I'm running Win10 Pro latest update.

I have one older Firewire 400 card that did finally show up. But I'm having an issue with it powering down my external HDD enclosure when windows reboots. Which is why I want to use Esata.

I have iommu disabled since this board won't post sometimes with it enabled.

mobo can support e-sata, as long u have free sata slots left, then u can set it up in uefi and use something like this

" rel="nofollow - unfortunately I dont have free sata slots left to use an adapter like that.

I did get another Firewire 800 card now to work. The only issue is that every time I reboot, it powers down my external HDD enclosure. So when windows tries to start up again, it has to power up the HDD again, which delays boot time.

Is there a BIOS setting to tell the motherboard not to power off Firewire devices on reboot?
