" rel="nofollow - I've been having some odd problems with the ASRock Ab350 Pro4 board.  When I plug a USB Hub in, any devices connected through that hub do not operate correctly,  mouse and keyboard will skip or keys will be stuck temporarily, flash drives may replace an existing drive letter, and the transfer speed stutters even when it does work.

Most notably, Windows 10 will display the hub connected devices with the name of a device already plugged in from "Bluetooth and other devices" page and the eject safely menu.

If I remove the hubs, and plug the devices directly they function correctly.

This seems to be a driver issue, but I'm not completely sure. The allin1 v17.40.1025 driver had the issue, the beta v17.40.2815.1010_WHQL seems to be slightly better(it doesn't seem to skip, but the other issues remain).

Are there any more up to date drivers? Is it safe to try the AMD Chipset drivers on their website? Would I lose any functionality? Or is there any other solution to this Hub issue?

Bad USB driver is a good guess. Even better one is missing chipset ones. Chipset drivers include a USB filter driver, which might be what is wrong with your system.

Try running the USB devices without a hub and see if the problem is still there.

On a side note - why use a hub? It only makes sense if you need a longer cords, but even then I'd pick a quality extension cable.

I installed the latest chipset drivers from asrock.  And no the problem doesn't occur without the hub.

I am currently using an extension cord for somethings, but that doesn't resolve the hub issue, some devices have hubs built in (like my card reader).

I don't see any USB Filter drivers installed,  does it go by any other name or is there a way to force installation?

" rel="nofollow - What BIOS version are you running?

The reason I ask is that if you look at the BIOS download page for your board you will see that 5.00 lists "Enhance USB Compatibility":

https://www.asrock.com/mb/AMD/AB350%20Pro4/#BIOS

If you do opt to update the BIOS make sure to use the Instant Flash method. Restore factory defaults in your UEFI and restart the system before you update, this will help remove some of the risk often involved with BIOS updates.

Good luck.

Thank you for pointing that out, I missed that part, I thought it was only for XMP.

I tried it, Situation seems improved as I haven't notice any skipping in 20 minutes. It was happening about every minute before.

But the device recognition is still off.

The wireless transceiver should only show Microsoft Keyboard(maybe mouse too if it's a unifying)

Do you think it's all right to use AMD's chipset drivers instead of ASRock's?

It should be fine, the one on your product page has just been tested specifically with your board. I usually use the latest available from AMD/Intel on my own systems when I first install the OS. Generally, if everything is working fine, there is no need to update it again. In your case, try them out and see if it improves the situation.

I'm basically out of Ideas. Updated the bios, and installed the latest Chipset drivers.

But I'm noticing that the Chipset drivers do not include windows 10 USB drivers for some reason.  So the http://https://www.dropbox.com/s/u6nx1owbamlrs4j/Screenshot%202018-09-26%2009.37.28.png%3Fdl=0" rel="nofollow - drivers I'm using are all from Microsoft and seem out of date despite repeated attempts to update them.

Windows 7 drivers are included, but windows 10 does recognize them as matching.

Did you try these https://www.amd.com/en/support/chipsets/amd-socket-am4/b350 ?

Can you please try and run a live Ubuntu (or any other Linux) USB and see if you'll get stuttering again? Running a different OS aims to test a different set of drivers. As your USB devices don't have issues w/o the hub, it's most likely the hub or some bad driver.

It's always a good idea to ask here:
https://support.amd.com/en-us/contact/email-form
https://www.asrock.com/support/index.asp?cat=RMA
and of course your USB hub provider
