B450 ITX-gaming
Ryzen 5 2600 (usually set to a stable overclock of 4.2Ghz @ 1.375V)
Noctua NH-C14s Cpu cooler

I have two 16GB sticks of Corsair Vengence (LPXCMK16GX4M1B3000C15). I initially bought one when I built the system last year, and a second about a month ago. I checked and they are both the same revision.

When used individually I can set them to run at 3000Mhz in UEFI, but when I try using both it keeps reverting to 2133Mhz.

I tried updating to the latest BIOS revision (3.10) to see if it was a problem with XMP profiles not working. The system just fails to boot a few times before reverti g itself to 2133Mhz

I also note that it keeps running in single channel mode (and I am personally unable to find an option to change this).

AM4 is particularly fussy with 16gb modules when to comes to dual channel operation. From what you describe it sounds like the IMC can't handle the RAM you have in dual channel or at XMP speeds with 2 modules installed. One of the most telling symptoms of incompatibility is not running in dual channel even when the correct slots are populated.

Unfortunately, if you are looking to run 32gb on an AM4 board with only 2 RAM slots you most likely will have to pick up something from the QVL and will likely be limited to 2933 speeds.

I decided to run some benchmarks to see if it was better to run both sticks at 2133 or one stick at 3000.

No idea what happened but after doing so I put both sticks back in and now both are reading at 3000 and runnimg in dual channel.

This is great news as I had checked and these sticks were listed on the AMD QVL (although only for rev5.9 @ 2933 speeds). Was going to take to try an ASUS board (listed the ram as QVL) and I like the idea of RGB being tied to system tempretures (the only use real use for RGB I can see).

Glad to hear it

It sounds like with pulling and reseating the RAM it sorted the problem. They may have just been seated a little off. I should have gone there first before incompatibility Regardless, all is running as it should now so congrats and enjoy the added performance that comes with more capacity and dual channel
