Hello,
I have a problem with Win 10 crashing on resume from sleep. It almost always works fine the first time, but subsequent times it crashes and reboots with a Hal_Initialization_Failed 0x5c according to WhoCrashed. I was able to solve this by enabling HPET (on by default in UEFI), in Windows using the bcdedit /set useplatformlock true. However, this then caused unacceptable lag using Windows, and I had to revert back to HPET off. Does anyone have experience with this, and can advise of any tricks / solutions? Let me know what additional details to provide. Thanks, Bryan |

As a frequent visitor on these forums yourself, I thought you'd thought of posting your configuration first. :)
There are hundreds of variables at play here, e.g. OC, BIOS, PSU, OS version and updates, HW and peripherals, etc. We need to know it all. :) |

Some more infos for the RAM (like i have in my sig), all RAM slots are used?
What does it mean, OC - 4.0Ghz CPU? I suggest to clock the CPU with standard settings. If the resume crash still comes up, clock down the RAM one step. Another idea: Disconnect all devices (USB, HD, ...) to get a minimal system and see, if the crash still occures. Maybe one device is causing the behaviour. BTW: Using suspend/resume on a OCed system is always a bit dangerous. Did you make 24h stress tests to verify stability? |

All 8 RAM slots used (128GB): G.Skill F4-3200C14-16GTZR @2933MHz OC - 4.0GHz CPU means the processor is overclocked to 4.0GHz from stock 3.4GHz I've tried running with UEFI defaults (stock cpu and ram speeds), but still same problem. I've turned off my USB hard drives, and still have the problem. I have not done a 24hour stress test because i'm afraid of damaging my system. I welcome any advice. Thanks |

Try it with default settings and the half amount of RAM, just for test.
>> I have not done a 24hour stress test because i'm afraid of damaging my system. Even if no overclocking is used i would be more afraid to have an unstable system without a stress test bringing the machine to it's limits. |
