Hey guys,
So I just bought a AsRock B450m Pro 4 chipset and I tried putting in an m.2 on the board that's labeled Ultra M.2 but it wont read.

There are 2 ports, so I tried putting on the other m.2 slot and it can read the m.2.

The m.2 is a kingston a400 240gb m.2 ssd

What I want to know is why wont it read on my ultra m.2 slot and only the other one? Is my mobo faulty or is there some sort of special rule?

Thank you in advance.

Answer is really simple - your board's topmost M.2 is accepting PCIe (NVMe) drives only.

Your Kingston is a SATA drive and as such it can only work in the bottom slot.

You may want to refer to mobo's webpage and manual.

Correct. Best to check the storage QVL for 100% compatibility as some exotic models may not be supported.
