Hi guys, I just wanted to be sure that the Fatality Z97 Killer (below)

http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/Fatal1ty%20Z97%20Killer/?cat=CPU

is compatible with the I5 4690K Devil Canyon:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819117372

Call me n00b all you want, I just have a hard time with Haswell R and Devil Canyon mess. Confuses me. I know they're supposed to be the same, but just making sure before I spend my money.

Thanks !

Thanks Wardog, I missed that, I saw the Haswell-R Xeons listed as "all". The board will need to have BIOS 1.3 or above. It is very likely that if you are purchasing it new it will already have 1.3 or above installed but an easy way to check, in the store if needed, is to look at the sticker on the BIOS chips, it should have a version number printed on it.

Xaltar, you folks in the EU are a lucky bunch with how sales and warranties work there.

Over on this side of the pond a clerk at a retail store would rather burn your first born than let you open a package to look at the sticker on the BIOS.

Though, and for some reason, many locales in the EU pay an exorbitant price, even w/o VAT if VAT applies.

Almost. They pay through the nose over there.

ASRock 990FX Extreme9

http://www.maplin.co.uk/p/asrock-990fx-extreme9-motherboard-amd-phenomathlonsempron-socket-am3-990fx-at-r75rp
172.14GBP = $260.70USD
http://www.xe.com/currencyconverter/convert/?Amount=172.14&From=GBP&To=USD

NewEgg here in the US has it for $189.99 and a $30.00 Mail-In Rebate, making it $159.99

And I don't think the EU "does' Mail In Rebates. Not that I've seen anyways.

They get a killer no questions asked warranty. Just take it back.

Still ...... I dunno.
