Specs:
ASRock B450 Pro4
AMD Ryzen 7 2700X
Crucial Ballistix Sport LT 16GB
Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050
Some 550w PSU

Hello, everyone.
I just have finished building my new system and, strangely, if I use the video card in the top x16 PCI-E slot the system won't even POST - black screen, no beeps, but fans are spinning. The same video card works just fine in the bottom x4 slot and it worked without any trouble in my older system.
Does anyone have any idea what is wrong with my computer?

i would hazard a guess

you have an adapter plugged in the gpu

dvi-vga or hdmi - dvi etc etc

you should find hdmi to hdmi on monitor works fine

(the problem seems to be with ADAPTERS the GPU bios isnt sending correct info to the boards bios to start the boot, this is bypassed using x4 slot)

I'm using HDMI-HDMI so, unfortunately, that's not the case.

Also, I've tested an old GeForce 9600 (DVI-VGA) and it's working without issues in the x16 slot.

find the option in bios for 'pcie gen'

if its set to 'auto' turn it to 'gen3'
you may also see pcie speed option,
if thats set to 'auto' turn it to say '1 x 16'

I've tried every combination of Gen1-3 and 1x16, 2x8 and still no luck. :(

I forget the exact setting, but do you have the display set to internal or external graphics? Is your display on the mobo hdmi port, or one on the gpu?

One thing to check is that your card is seated properly in that top slot .. if your case is a smidge wonky .. sometimes it's hard to get the video card to get all the way seated.

..alternatively .. take components out of case and see if system boots with video card plugged into x16 pcie slot .. check for contaminates inside of slot as well .. piece of paper, packing material .. etc ..
