Hi all,
I started a build with a b450m pro4-f mobo which has an Ultra M.2 slot- I understand that this slot only accepts PCIe Gen 3 ssds, but I'm not sure if it accepts all nvme vendor ssd types (I'm assuming it should?). I'm specifically looking at getting a Western Digital Blue 500GB WDS500G2B0C NVMe M.2 SSD. I went on the module support list for the board and this specific ssd was not on the list. Does this mean that the ultra m2 slot only supports certain nvme drives from their support list. Would be great if I could get some assistance with this. Thanks in advance |

i cant tell you if your choosen nvme will work
but i can tell you the adata xpg pro 8200 500gb seem to work in the b450m pro4 i know of three different systems they are in with that motherboard (and they are quite well reviewed nvme drives as well ) in a lot of crystal diskmark test sections they outperform my 250gb samsung 960evo |

can i just add
you keep calling the nvme a ssd while technically it is the can be confusion when selecting a drive called an m2 ssd (you might end up buying a sata3 type m2 which would be limited to 600mbps and not the faster nvme connection, so make sure the drive you purchase is stated as nvme) |

Thanks so much for your help and yep apparently any Pcie gen 3 2280 form factor is compatible with the ultra m2 slot
Someone had a similar question and it was answered on this post: http://forum.asrock.com/forum_posts.asp?TID=5041&title=m2-ssd#:~:text=2%20NVMe%20SSD%20is%20compatible,and%20Z97%20chipset%20boards%20too. |
