I got a ASRock B550M Pro SE motherboard with AMP Ryzen 7 PRO 4750GE (Renoir).

According to spec here
https://asrock.com/MB/AMD/B550M%20Pro%20SE/#Specification

it says ECC Memory should be supported with Ryzen PRO CPUs

Quote * For Ryzen Series APUs (Picasso, Cezanne and Renoir), ECC is only supported with PRO CPUs.

I took a working ECC DIMMs from my other AMD EPYC server matching the spec of this CPU (DDR4 3200), but it does not start with that memory.

Put non-ECC memory, booted up successfully, updated BIOS to latest version (v3.40) from here
https://asrock.com/MB/AMD/B550M%20Pro%20SE/#BIOS

Shut it down, tried ECC DIMMs again and again, does not start.

I tried to contact support few times already, but unfortunately my answer is not being answered.
I would appreciate any pointers on what I have missed.

I'm almost certain that those ECC DIMMs from EPYC server are *REGISTERED* DIMMs. Those DO NOT WORK in desktop boards. Only UNBUFFERED DIMMs will work.
You can buy EUDIMM (ECC Unbuffered DIMM) straight from Crucial.com (Server Memory) these days at a very reasonable price.

Also, ECC more-or-less works fine with regular CPUs (e.g. 2700, 3700X, 5700X, 5800X3D, etc.), but for APUs, only PRO versions work (e.g. PRO 2400G, PRO 4750G, PRO 5750G, etc.).

APUs with iGPU disabled also need to be PRO, but as far as I know, no such product exists, so none of the APU-with-iGPU-disabled will support ECC memory: 4500, 5700, etc. Note 5700 and 5700X are totally different chips. 5700 is 5700G with iGPU disabled (Cezanne), whereas 5700X is a chiplet CPU (Vermeer).

Thank you very much! I understand my confusion now, ordering Unbuffered ECC and see if that one works.

I have the ASRock B550m Pro4 with 5700G CPU, does this mean I can't use ECC RAM at all?

Thanks

5700G is an APU, so it won't work with ECC memory.
At best, it might work in non-ECC mode (i.e. parity bits are ignored), but I can't even guarantee that. It might not work at all.

You'd need a PRO equivalent, which would be the Ryzen 7 PRO 5750G.
