I would like to know if it's normal that my heatsink, intel stock dell'i5 6600 (mounted on a Asrock Z170 K6 (latest firmware) starts with a few seconds delay! as you can see from this video of another guy https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x47mlnc_problema-dissipatore-cpu-intel_tech
I can not say if I also did before because since the first start I had a seidon 120v 2 (that is, and broke a few days ago (2 seidon broken in 3 years both version 1 and version 2) P.S also changing settings in the bios boot into delay does not change! But ... if I put prifilo silen the fan does not turn (it seems I just turn off the connectors the bios with the silent profile)

Yes, it is normal by PWM-Fans :)

but there is a way to start subbito the fan? before I had a Saidon 120v and I never noticed this delay! but the seidon I and me broke and I reassembled the fan stock intel and I noticed this feature I noticed that even manually configuring laventola, I can not set it below 30 degrees! if I put a fan in the connectors 3 pin starts immediately! while the intel fan 4-pin part in about 5 seconds! if you can tell me if I can start immediately the fan! |

No it is not normal, and is caused by Intel stock Skylake CPU coolers that are made by NIDEC. Check the label on the fan of your Intel stock CPU cooler, if it has NIDEC on it, that is causing the problem. The fan on the NIDEC made Intel stock CPU cooler is the ONLY PWM fan that does not work correctly. I am sure you have a NIDEC made, Skylake CPU cooler. We have had many reports of this problem in this forum for a while now. I have used many different PWM fans on my (not stock) CPU coolers, and they all work normally. The problem is not only that the fan won't start spinning when it should, it also will not spin below 1,000 RPM. That is also not normal for a PWM fan. ASRock has even added an option in the UEFI/BIOS of their Z170 boards, called CPU Fan Type, to try to fix issue with the NIDEC made CPU coolers. Try setting that option, in the H/W Monitoring screen to "4 Pin". It will improve the operation of the NIDEC made CPU coolers, but they still do not work 100% normally. I tried to get Intel to admit there is a problem with their NIDEC made Skylake CPU coolers, since they also use CPU coolers made by other manufactures. Intel sent me a stock Skylake CPU cooler, but it was not a NIDEC made model, and it worked correctly. I confirmed with ASRock board users that had the NIDEC made coolers, that changing to any other Intel stock CPU cooler that fit their board worked normally. I selected profile: 4-pin and the delay and lowered to 5 seconds! great! and I also set the Silent profile! PS: I tried to turn the bios beeps when turned on and strangely I noticed that attivaot me the cpu fan to the max! Edited by KiraGt - 16 Oct 2016 at 12:07am |

Yes, you have a NIDEC made CPU cooler, that is the bad one! The BIOS beep should not do anything to the CPU fan speed. The fan is going faster now because you are using the 4 Pin setting. As you know, you need a new CPU cooler. Don't get another water cooler, get a Noctua or Cryorig CPU cooler. If you have any older Intel CPUs, like Haswell, Ivy Bridge, or Sandy Bridge, the Intel coolers with those CPUs will fit in your board, and work much better than then the one you have now. |

That is a perfect example of what happens with the NIDEC made Intel Skylake CPU cooler, although it is incomplete in showing the behavior of the NIDEC CPU cooler.
The NIDEC cooler will not spin below about 50% of the PWM signal, its lowest speed being ~1000 RPM. The thread in this forum where we first heard of this problem, and we discovered that the NIDEC CPU cooler was the problem can be found here (the forums link tool is still broken, but the URL is right ![]() http://forum.asrock.com/forum_posts.asp?TID=1392&PN=1&title=h170mitx-dl-cpu-fan-control |
