I have 64GB (8 x 8GB) of DDR3 memory, so 8 DIMMS total, for a dual CPU configuration, and I can't find the memory installation order for this setup. Which slots should I populate?
Should I do like A1/B1, C1/D1, etc... or should I just populate all the slots on one side the board? The manual isn't too clear on this. Any feedback is appreciated. THANKS!

Wow. The manual does suck on memory placement doesn't it.
Opening two copies of the online manual, I'm going to say populate the Blue slots in Dual CPU and having 8 sticks. Look at pg68. There, DDR3_A1, B1 and DDR3_E1, F1 are populated. These are the Blue slots. So to keep 8 sticks in respective "channels" I'm going with you need to populate the 8 Blue slots. Most MB's use white slots to signify as/the second set of channels to populate last. It appears to ring true here also. Edited by wardog - 08 Oct 2017 at 7:02pm |
