X370 gaming K4 with 1700x OC'd to 3.8 @ 1.3v, flarex 2400mhz ram.
Can't get it to go over 2400, never could so i left it but i wouldn't mind seeing if i can get a boost in some games so i thought i'd try and figure it out.

Tried loosening the timing and upping voltage etc, never works but one time it went through after a couple of boot loops and i had a 5 minute play around with prime 95 and cinebench just for the hell of it(2666@16-16-16-45). Didn't crash or anything, then i reset and it went straight into the boot loop thing. Seems strange to me that i can't get it to boot but it handles prime 95 fine the one time it went into windows. Not syaing that's a good test of stability but you would think it would post if it can do that.

I even went all the way down to 18-18-18-45 with the timings, trying to get to 2666, no luck.

I think my bios is 2.5, when i first got the board i had to send it back cause it bricked itself during a bios update so i'm not keen on doing that again but would upgrading do the trick? say 3.4?

Maybe my ram is just crappy but i feel like something else is going on.

Maybe you're unlucky with CPU. If you use 2 sticks of RAM try to install it on other 2 RAM slots in the motherboard. I have Corsair memory rated 3000 MHz, but it doesn't work at 2933 if installed in recommended 2 slots.

Well i updated the bios to 3.4, no luck.
I had tried changing memory slots in the past and it caused some kind of issue, ie wouldn't boot, or something(unsure). Im stuck with 2400 but its ok, not going to worry about it, system doesn't like it.
