Bluetooth range for Fatal1ty X370 Professional?

   I just got some new bluetooth earphones and they will only pair and stay connected with my PC if I hold them right next to the computer case.  I have no problems staying connected with my smartphone 20 feet away.  Why is the range so short for Fatal1ty X370 Professional Gaming ATX motherboard?  I have even taken the side panels off of the computer case and that didn't help.
