Neat! Dump that lntel already! It's the era of AMD now. Mwahahaha!
You can re-use almost all of your current PC components, yes. RAM could still be a hit or miss, although Zen+ (aka Ryzen 2nd gen) and a X470 mobo will most likely take care of that. With a X470 mobo you can natively use the 2 NVMe drives, you got 2 M.2 slots wired directly to the CPU. How cool is that? The H60 should keep the temps in check, even with some OC. It's not the 9000-serier Bulldozers, you know. Any decent Taichi should also offer you better audio than this gimmicky SoundDisaster RX, you're now 'rocking', so that's one more PCIe slot to worry about. After all this, you may still need to dump either the FireWire or the Thunderbolt card. Seriously, upgrade your cam gear, it's nearly 2019 already. |

Hello, first post here !
My current rig is detailed below : MoBo : Asrock Z270 Fatal1ty Gaming K6 (Bios 2.10) GPU : EVGA GeForce GTX 1070 8GB SC (Driver 399.24) CPU : Intel i7 6700K (stock) Cooler : Corsair H60 RAM : 4 x 8GB Patriot Viper DDR4 3200 (PV416G320C6K) PSU : EVGA Supernova 650 G2 (12 volt 54.1A @ 649.2W) M.2 : 250GB Samsung 960 Evo Pci-e x4 (System) M.2 : 128GB Scandisk SATA (Swap file) HDD : Hitachi 1TB HD 7200rpm (Games etc.) Blu Ray : Pioneer BD-RW BDR-209D Case : Thermaltake Core V31 OS : Windows 10 1803 PCI-e x4 Asrock Thunderbolt 3 PCI-e x1 SoundBlaster Audigy RX PCI-e x1 Firewire 800/400 PCI-e x1 PCI to M.2 adaptor (1x 128GB Sata M.2) I am happy with my current rig as it 'just works' and have never had any problems with it at all ?? However I am thinking of changing the MoBo/CPU to AMD/Ryzen but have a some questions. I want to reuse ALL the components from my current build (I already know I cannot use the ThunderBolt card !!) It seems from what I have read that AMD MoBo have some real compromises (I have used ASRock for my last 8 yes 8 builds and never had any problems so want to carry on with them) even the X470 seems to have compromises around how many PCI-e x1 you can use at once and still use both M.2, but more worrying it seems I can only use 2 of the 4 Patriot ram (I already checked it IS on the list) at the 2933 speed, if this is true it's a compromise too far ?? So am I correct on this or am I missing something ? Dar. |
