The problem now seems to be worse. Neither B1 or B2 seems to be working at all. A1 and A2 are fine still.

I tried one Dimm in each memory slot. Only with it in A1 and A2 would it post. I tried the other Dimm for the same result. In all 4 slots, I can both hear and feel a click when the Dimm seats, so I reckon I am using enough pressure.

I cleared CMOS and tried the test again for exactly the same result.

I then tried with no memory and get three long beeps, which is the correct error response.

Thanks for replying. I'll check again tomorrow - I've been offline for a week after a huge storm hit my area.

Is the RAM seating into slot B2 all the way? Sometimes a slot can be a little tight and not allow the RAM to seat fully without a little bit of force.

If you install the RAM in A1 and B1 do you get Dual channel shown as active?

I posted a similar message recently but made a few mistakes in the message so I will post again.

I have just built a new system based on an ASRock Z390 Extreme4 motherboard, Intel i7 8700 CPU, 2x8 gig Corsair 3200 memory.

With the memory in Slots A2 and B2, the system will not post. If it is in A1 and A2 it works. Using 1 memory DIMM only, A1, A2 and B1 work. B2 does not, so it looks like B2 is faulty. I have tried using the other memory DIMM with the same results.

I have removed the CPU to check for bent pins or any such thing, it looks fine to me so I have reinstalled it, the same thing happens with the memory.
