I apparently forgot to mention in my first post that I already tried that.

Welcome to the forums
According to your user manual the A2 error is in relation to detecting the hard disk. Try doing a minimal boot with no devices connected to the board other than RAM and CPU and see if you can get the system to post.

HI all first time posting here and so far through numerous searches on this and another forum I have been unable to find an answer to my problem. I have a ASRock Z77 Extreme4 LGA 1155 Intel PC that I built myself around the 5th month of last year 2014. A few mornings ago my brother used the computer with no problems and when I switched from his user account to mine it started out fine then the screen got all weird and locked up. I shut the computer down and waited a few minutes to turn it back and. After turning it back on everything would light up fans running and you can hear the hard drive spin up but no HD light activity and no post or bios screen. I cant even get in to bios. Tried running no memory got the 3 beeps then tried each memory card separately with no beeps. Tested the PSU with a digital psu tester and everything was with in range. Tried clearing cmos by pushing the button and then by removing the battery for about an hour with no change in results.
About the only thing I can think off is that the motherboard barely lasted a little over 18 months. Occasionally play a few games on it but mostly watch TV and movies. ASRock Z77 Extreme4 LGA 1155 Intel Running Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit. G.Skill Ripjaw memory that was listed as compatible and worked fine before with no problems. Intel Core i5-3570K Ivy Bridge Quad-Core 3.4GHz (3.8GHz Turbo) LGA 1155
