Ok I am sorry but you still are not easy to understand. I already HAVE Windows 10 installed. Do I have to now scrap this and do a fresh install via that route? Is there a way to fix this without losing everything? Secondly, why does it not identify itself as also being a Win 10 installation method as well, or better yet, why hasn't ASRock fixed this issue via BIOS?
Myself, I have installed hundreds of motherboards for my company, almost a hundred ASRock boards alone. What occurs does not make sense. Why do I get this notification yet all subs work? |

Yes. That link applies to Win10 also.
If you'll look on the Downloads page for your MB under Windows 10 it shows "Windows 7 USB Patcher ver:2.0.5" This is why I posted the link and suggested you install following the directions on the linked page. |

I followed the link and it pertains only to Win7 installation. My OS is installed and it is Win10. Are you stating that I have to go with a new installation? Are we saying that I then substitute Win 7 install ISO with Win10, becaause it does not state that there?? Very confused and only know that evry time i boot this system, it states...
Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43) The
SuperSpeed link to the USB device keeps going to an error state
Compliance. If the device is removable, remove the device and then
disable/enable from device manager to recover. PS tried just the USB 3 driver install and says not compatible with the system. The funny part is....all USBs seem to work! i JUST HAVE THIS ANNOYING POP UP, DEVICE ERROR AND AUDIBLE NOTIFICATION EVERY FEW HOURS. Edited by Les - 09 Dec 2015 at 6:48pm |

My case is Win 10 Pro...not Win 7...exact same issue and i have been fighting with this for 2 months on 2 boards.
It doesnt make sens that a fresh installation of Win 10 on a brand new Z170 XTreme7+ Boards always results in USB not recognized pop up as well as audible notification and device manager problem. There should be afix for this. Edited by Les - 09 Dec 2015 at 11:38am |

AFAIK Win7 _and_ Win10 do not come with USB 3.0 drivers for the 100 nor N3000 series.

USB Patcher ver:2.0.4 - have You installed it? It's at the bottom of the page here: http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/Z170%20OC%20Formula/?cat=Download&os=Win1064 Here isthe USB3.0 driver for the W8.1 x64, they should work with W10 too: http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/Z170%20OC%20Formula/?cat=Download&os=Win8a64 And here is the Intel USB3.0 driver for W7 x64, so take a try on it: http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/Z170%20OC%20Formula/?cat=Download&os=Win764 (End Quote) For 1) I downloaded the USB Patch ver:2.0.4, made a boot USB drive, and restarted PC. PC booted into USB drive and I got an error message saying that "the modification cannot be performed on this platform (or something close to that lol). Lot of work for nothing! For 2) I downloaded the USB3.0 driver from 8.1 and got the same basic error as 1). No help there! For 3) I downloaded the Intel USB3.0 driver for Windows 7 and got the same basic error as 1). No help there either! Windows is very stubborn about having the right drivers for the right platform. I think we're talking about Intel USN drivers that are at fault unless the MB is bad (good grief). I got some updated Intel drivers from Web, but they failed to install saying the process is aborting due to invalid platform (roughly lol). Here are the PC stats: MB: Asrock Z170 Extreme7+ CPU: Intel I7-6700k OC'd at 4.7 (during installs no OC) GPU(s): 2 - EVGA GTX580s on slots 2 & 4 in SLI HDD: 2 - Seagate 1TB ST31000524AS in RAID 0 => Volume_0000, Boot drive SSD: 1 - Intel 311 SSD 20 GB, dedicated cache to Volume_0000 Memmory: 16 GB 2 - GSkill DDR4 3600 F4-3600C17D-8GTZ (from Asrock approved list) (during installs 2133, OC at 3600) PSU: Recommended PSU Wattage from online PSU calculator: 925 Watts; Have 1000 Watt Gold PSU Any other ideas?
