Thanks for the response, it was a 64Gb stick so perhaps that had something to do with it. disappointing that it frys the chip but guess thats just how it goes sometimes

Did you update from a USB device or Harddrive ? I have found that any USB drive bigger than 16Gb can cause an issue when flashing a bios from it.

I ran the 2.5 bios update from within the bios, all looked good, said restarting in 5 seconds or something to that effect then turned off. now just get a blck screen when i try to boot. any ideas? have tried battery removal and clr cmos to no avail
