The latest loaner program offers a 200GE, not an A6. IMO this is a mistake on AMD's part, because the 200GE itself needs a somewhat newer BIOS. If you have a board with a mid 2008 or earlier BIOS, the loaner program won't do you any good. I think it would have been better to do the loaner with a 2200G, or perhaps offer a choice of 200GE or 1200. For some strange reason, they forgot to ask me...

To my knowledge what you will get from there is an A6-9500 APU, or atleast it was like a year ago..

I am having some "fun" with one of those trying to update my bios :D

I've been digging all over the internet myself too. I'm hoping asrock offers an update for their Taichi x470 soon or I will be forced to purchase from another manufacturer.

Here is a gem that I found:

AMD appears to offer a CPU loaner program to update the bios of the boards. The web site is in reference to the 2000 series, but it is probably safe to assume they will offer it for their new launch.

I filed my request today and will keep you posted.

Your only chance is to buy a VERY fresh X470 mobo that is pre-flashed in the factory or in the shop. Tough luck, though.

Other option is to borrow a CPU for the flash only.

Hello Asrock,

the new x570 prices are nuts, won't fit my needs and I don't like an additional 4000 rpm fan - so I was thinking to buy a Ryzen 3700x and a x470 chipset board.

Is it possible to update the bios to the Ryzen 3000 supported version, when only a Ryzen 3700x is available in my setup.

Thx in advance,
Neo
