I would use M2_3 for the SATA3 drive and keep M2_1 empty for a fast PCIe SSD in the future (this port is directly connected to the CPU).

Apologies, I misremembered. M.2 Drive is in what is actually the M.2_2. It not being compatible would totally explain everything, I could have sworn the user manual said both slots 1 and 2 were compatible with Sata 6Gb.
I will try slot 1 and report back. |

I don't know where you can find a M2_4 slot on this board.
https://www.asrock.com/mb/AMD/X570%20Taichi/index.asp#Specification - 1 x Hyper M.2 Socket (M2_1), supports M Key type 2242/2260/2280 M.2 SATA3 6.0 Gb/s module and M.2 PCI Express module up to Gen4x4 (64 Gb/s) (with Matisse) or Gen3x4 (32 Gb/s) (with Pinnacle Ridge and Picasso)* - 1 x Hyper M.2 Socket (M2_2), supports M Key type 2260/2280 M.2 PCI Express module up to Gen4x4 (64 Gb/s)* - 1 x Hyper M.2 Socket (M2_3), supports M Key type 2230/2242/2260/2280/22110 M.2 SATA3 6.0 Gb/s module and M.2 PCI The 860 EVO 1TB SSD is a SATA3 drive and should work in slot M2_1 or M2_3 |

I updated my x570 Taichi to BIOS 1.8 on the 9th; everything worked fine until yesterday, when I changed the CSM Compatibility to read my M.2 Samsung 860 EVO 1TB SSD drive I had put in slot M.2_4.
I followed all instructions to the letter on install, and drive is fully seated and screwed down, and thermal paste cover is off. Before I changed CSM compatibility the BIOS and system ran fine even with compatibility off and not seeing the drive. Once I changed compatibility and saved and restarted the system went into Boot-Loops, and will no longer post. I have tried clearing the CMOS multiple times, different ways - I am fine trying again in case somehow I was doing the procedure wrong this entire time, and for the past near decade since buttons first popped up on boards, but I am wondering if anyone else has had a similar problems or recommendations on where to go next, should I reflash BIOS?
