OK, I got the front ports working again. I just removed USB connector from the motherboard for front panel USB ports and reseated the connector. I'm plugged into the USB 7 & 8 port on the motherboard and it was seated very well to begin with....oh well. But still the Generic SuperSpeed USB Hub device errors out.
I then downloaded and installed the Debugging tools from the Windows 10 SDK (only debugging tools, deselected everything else). There is a tool called USBView that lets you see all of your USB devices and the protocol support available and the speed of active devices. No Generic SuperSpeed USB Hub device showed up and the front panel devices only showed on the Generic USB Hub, which is USB 2.0 and below. Only the Intel Host Controller which provides SuperSpeed for at least the back USB ports was working for me. And then by sheer luck, I got the Generic SuperSpeed device going again! With USBView running, I disabled the Generic SuperSpeed device and re-enabled it in Device Manager. It also remains working after a reboot!! So not sure if installing and/or running USBView was the key to fixing the device but it seems to have worked for me. Previously the device would show the error within 30 seconds of disabling/enabling. Hope this helps! |

Yes, same issue here, fairly new build as well. I first noticed the error after a power outage that occurred while the computer was in Sleep mode. On next boot up, my wireless keyboard/mouse USB receiver (plugged in front) began having issues. They were working, but wireless range had dropped to about 6"!
I moved the receiver to a back port as I read that USB 3.0 can interfere with the 2.4GHz receivers, however it had been working fine up until the power outage and a Windows Update that had occurred the day before. The front ports did work with a wired keyboard and a USB flash drive, but now after a few days, the front ports don't seem to be working. 1. Tried rolling back the Windows Update, no change. 2. Have deleted and re-installed the device, no change. 3. No driver updates seem to be available for this device. 4. Did an sfc /scannow and it did find and repair problems, but didn't fix the issue. 5. No issues found with chkdsk /f c: I'm running Win 10 Pro, Version 10.0.18363 Build 18363 Have you been able to fix the issue? |
