At this point I would send a support ticket to ASRock:
https://event.asrock.com/tsd.asp

Windows updates can and do mess with systems at a UEFI level but that does not
sound like the case in your situation, typically a full CMOS clear and fresh install
resolves POST failures caused by the OS. You may want to send a support ticket to
AMD too, I would suspect either the board or CPU.

I am guessing you mean you have tried it in different slots when you say swapping
PCIe lanes. Was there a windows update or something before the system stopped
outputting a display on the 2080ti?

Try a clean OS install, update fully then install the latest chipset drivers.
Once that is done try install the GPU drivers with the 2080ti. Do not install them
before this point. Let us know what it does. Also, you can check your event log
for any errors that may be flagging.

Everything was going fine and one day when I turn on the PC nothing shows up, then I discovered the error code 97. No windows update or any change in hardware or anything strange done prior to that.

And for now I discover that the Windows takes a very long time to load. It's stuck at loading screen for at least 45-50 seconds before entering desktop.

What's more is that in the current situation I just shut the PC down and turn on, but error code 97 is back. I cannot get pass that and it's stuck at error code 97.

At my last successful boot I cleared the whole SSD and reinstalled windows from usb drive. Then I installed all AMD drivers before installing nvidia drivers. Windows device manager showed that I have installed all motherboard drivers. I really doubt it's a windows or driver's problem as I can't even get pass bios.

And thanks for your reply.

This is a picture of the display card going up at a Z390 setup. I even installed tomb raider and it's fully functioning.

Tried reinstalling windows
Still Code 43 error in fresh installed Windows
It can be seen as RTX 2080 Ti after installing driver but no display output or whatsoever

I am outputting display from HD5450
When I plug my HDMI cable into the 2080 Ti
Black screen and nothing happens
And I have tried displayport too

And the card is working perfectly fine in other setups
I also tried swapping PCI-E lanes on X399M taichi as well

Any help is appreciated

Thanks for your reply and I am still struggling so sorry for late reply

Just tried that and it's error code 97 on newest bios
I have also cleared cmos and it's the same

But then I flashed to an older bios
And it boots
I then installed Nvidia driver but that's error 43 in device manager

I am trying to figure out what's going on

Try installing the 2080ti and the hd5450 at the same time with the hd5450 in the top PCIe slot. See if the 2080ti is detected in windows.

Hi there I am encountering a problem and I really need help...

AMD Threadripper 2920X
ASRock X399M Taichi
G-Skill Tirdent Z 3200 B-Die 8G X4
GALAX RTX 2080 Ti
Samsung 960 Pro 512GB
EVGA 1600W T2
Noctua U14S-TR4-SP3

The system was originally fine, but one day it did not boot up, and the debug code shows 97, which may be caused by the display card.

I thought the display card may had died, so I put the display card into another machine for testing (7820X + ASUS x299 Deluxe). Everything works perfect and the display card was going up normally.

I am not sure what's going on, so I bought a NEW Gigabyte Z390 m gaming + NEW CPU to have a test (yes I really bought that on my own money). Everything's perfectly fine again. I sold the new Z390 motherboard + CPU and lost quite a bit money but for testing the 2080Ti I have to take that.

I also have a NAS which is used for file server (i3 7100 + ASUS P10S-i) and I used quite a lot of time to clear my file server and install the display card for test. It's also working fine.

So the only problem remains to the X399M Taichi. I am not sure what's going on, and I tried downgrading the BIOS to different versions and clear CMOS. I even tried unplugging the BIOS battery. Sometimes the error code shows D6, sometimes it shows 27 (if I remember correctly) and sometimes it's 97. It seems that the motherboard has locked up the display card and does not allow it to boot.

I have tried replacing the power supply (with a Seasonic P860), only plug one ram stick or even use another ram stick (Kingston 2400 8G), unplug SSD etc...... No the bios won't go past error code 97 or D6.

Also I have tried flashing a different BIOS on my RTX 2080Ti. It boots on all other systems but not the X399M Taichi

And there's more. I have found a very old HD5450 and plugged to X399M Taichi. OMG it boots. I do not know what's wrong with that. I seriously need help.

I wonder if there's any special bios which can unlock the lock on my 2080Ti. I don't know if it's locked or what. I have used many days and tried everything I know but I really don't know what to do now... Any help is appreciated. Thank you.
