Dear Quardah,

Thanks for posting your query to the ASRock forum.

CPU fan header shouldn't affect the system from booting.

Here is what we will recommend:
1. Reinstall the RAM. (Check the gold finger of the RAM, use an eraser to clean to RAM if needed)
2. Try with another RAM on different slots.
3. Take out the CPU, and check if there are any marks on it.
4. Then reinstall the CPU.

If the problem still persists, it can be the motherboard, CPU related.
Kindly check the CPU with another system to see if the CPU can work properly.

With thanks,
ASRock TSD

I'm starting this four hour process : http://forum.asrock.com/forum_posts.asp?TID=630&title=how-to-clear-cmos-via-battery-removal

To try resetting the cmos

I tried the following :

I disconnected the 4 pin CPU power cable and i get the exact same results if i try booting. Unfortunately it seems like it's not taking the contact into account.

I don't what to do next, please let me know if you have an idea.

Thanks.

Hi folks

I am in need of assistance. Yesterday i tried swapping my nephew's PSU from an Antec 80Bronze 500W PSU to a Silverstone 80Titanium 800W PSU but i cannot get the machine to boot and i do not know what to do. The mobo is a H110M-ITX board with intel i5-6600K processor.

I tried going barebone (CPU Mobo 1 stick or ram with PSU, no drives, no gpu) and the machine cannot even get into BIOS. The chassis fan spins, not the CPU fan. If i plug the CPU fan on the chassis header and the chassis fan in the CPU header, the CPU fan works (therefore it's the CPU fan header that doesn't work). I tried resetting CMOS, doesn't give me anything.

I tried both with the previous and new PSU. I get the same result. The chassis led always lights up, and the chassis fan never stops spinning. Seems like it's stuck in boot process.

I think POST is failing but even when adding a PC speaker to the speaker header, i get no beep code. I tried the PC speaker both ways (tried multiple different ones, tried flipping the connection too) and we get nothing. We also get no display either on the HDMI or DVI onboard ports (we removed the GPU for these tests).

I would like to know, asking someone with more experience with ASRock gear, can the mobo refuse to boot if it doesn't detect any CPU fan speed? Like some sort of protecting mecanism? I find this very weird.

We tried the PSU in another old rig (Asus mobo with i5 760, with the GPU) and we managed to get into BIOS therefore the PSU is known good (it's not a dead on arrival unit).

I do not know what to do next. The board is quite old and therefore not under warranty anymore, but considering the pandemic, it's a pain to build up a new rig right now. We were trying to make his gear last until the next Ryzens (about 4 months away) so now we're trying to fix it in order to save cash for his next build.

Please let me know what you would try next.

Many thanks.
