Button or jumper doesn't matter, they are the same thing. Bridging pins or shorting
the traces with a momentary switch does the same job

Thank you Saltar, I'm trying to do now the CMOS clearing through battery removal procedure, but I can't find the CMOS Jumper that everyone mentions that should be close to the battery. Do you know by any chance where is that located for the X399 professional gaming motherboard? The Manual only mentions the CMOS Button I mentioned before, but doesn't show where the jumper would be.

It works the same as bridging the clear CMOS jumper on the board. Removing the
battery for 10 mins or more is more effective as it clears the RTC and deeper settings
as well but if all you need to do is clear a bad overclock or restore defaults
the button is perfect. The only time you need to pull the battery is if there is
a more serious issue and clearing CMOS with a jumper or the switch is not cutting
it.

Hi,

The manual of ASRock x399 Professional Gaming mentions that it includes a "Clear CMOS Switch" but it doesn't say how it works? is it that you simply press it when the PC is disconnected from the power and is it really equivalent to the longe rmethod of removing the CMOS battery, holding the power button for a few minutes and waiting 10 mins before adding the battery back? the only description of the mysterious Clear CMOS switch is:

"Clear CMOS Switch allows users to quickly clear the CMOS values"

"This function is workable only when you power off your computer and unplug the power supply."

Any details would be greatly appreciated, thank you!
