I found the trick is to select "UEFI: sandisk" from the boot menu. I was able to boot memtest86 once using this. However, the boot menu items changes frequently. It always shows a list of hard drives, followed by:
USB: sandisk (may appear 0 or 1 time) UEFI: sandisk (may appear 0, 1 or 3 times) Obviously if the UEFI entry doesn't show up I cannot select it to boot. So what causes these choices to sometimes show up and sometimes not show up? |

I can boot up windows 10 install from an USB drive by selecting "USB sandisk" in the boot menu.
I then replace the windows 10 usb drive with a memtest86 usb drive and try to boot the same way. I ended up booting windows 10 from a hard drive. I read I need to enable UEFI. But if it boots up windows 10 install disk, doesn't that mean UEFI is enabled? My mobo is asrock z97 killer LGA 1150. Would it work? |
