Hello,
quite new to the forum. Recently bought an ASROCK Z370 Extreme 4 motherboard. I was really excited about it as I was waiting for it to arrive since it would have a USB-C port in the back that would allow me to use my (also) newly purchased Logitech Streamcam.

Upon connecting the camera to the port and using all kinds of recording software(s) one thing became apparent. The sound from the cameras microphone would be choppy and incoherent. One could argue that the camera doesn't even pick up any normal sound but just weird "ticks" and "scratches".

Troubleshooting:
First in my list of troubleshooting was of course to verify that the camera itself is not defective. It was connected to a Win10 laptop, to a Macbook, and to another Desktop with a different (brand) motherboard. It was also connected directly via its USB C interface and via a 3.0 USBC->A adapter. In all cases the sound worked. Another troubleshooting step was to connect the camera via a 3.0 USBC->A adapter on the ASROCK Z370 Extreme 4 itself and realize that with this type of setup the sound actually works.

The prime suspect here is the 3.1 USB-C port which so happens to be controlled by the ASMedia USB Controller. Googling around one can find plenty of pots regarding an incompatibility between the specific Logitech camera model and this specific non-Intel based controller.

Goes without saying that:
- I am on latest motherboard BIOS
- I have installed every latest driver Windows 10 Update had to give
- For what Windows did not provide I compensated through my motherboard's website by also downloading the latest drivers and installing them as administrator.

Suffice to say all basic troubleshooting steps have been done - is there anything I have missed£ What are my options going forward£ I'd really hate to return the camera - and of course changing motherboard now that the PC is up and running is also not a viable option for me as it's being used for my day-to-day work and activities.

Regards,
G
