The problem with disappearing drives is that there are a large number of possible causes so it can be very difficult to track down. Things to check for: 1. Bad SATA cables 2. Power Supply instability 3. Incompatibility with a particular set of SATA ports (try others) 4. Defective drive 5. Defective motherboard 6. Shared port resources (the port you have the drive connected to may be sharing resources with something so again try other ports.) 7. Incorrect BIOS settings And the list could go on but I think those are the main culprits. The Extreme 9 has a lot of connectivity and a fair number of shared resources on the SATA ports so take a look in your user manual and make sure you are not using one of the ports that share resources with other devices. To my mind that is the most likely cause.

Hi all.
I have got the Extreme9 with AMD FX 9590 deployed as a workstation. The main system drive is ADATA SSD SP900 256GB 2,5" SATA3 MLC with windows system. I have problem that time to time the system crashes. But not only that. For relatively short time after this crash (few minutes) the drive disappears from the system. I mean if you want to start the computer again, the SSD is not found by bios and it simply tells "no boot device found" (or something similar, I did not write down the exact message). I have read on some forums about "disappearing SSD syndrome", but no conclusive answers. I have switched off the aggresive link option in bios, i have set the energy saving options to max performance in windows, but the crashes with this syndrome still remains. Is there some compatibility lists of SSD drives in combinastion of the bios/chipset? Does anybody know better way how to contact asrock than just the forum? Thanks for advice Martin |
