The memory speed is often showed as "half" the speed, since the 1600 refers to effective speed and not the actual DRAM frequency. DDR stands for double data rate and 800 x2 = 1600. For example on my system with DDR3-1333 RAM modules Speccy and CPU-Z both say my DRAM frequency is 665 MHz, as it should be. In other words you should be fine. If you have any doubts, you can run memory benchmarks before and after an overclock to see whether memory performance really drops to 50%.

I'm having trouble overclocking my CPU on my 970M Pro 3. I have 2X 2GB DDR3 1600 memory and if I leave my CPU config alone, the memory clocks correctly, but if I try to put in a manual clock multiplier for my CPU, the memory drops to DDR3 800. I have an FX6100 CPU which is factory clocked at 3300MHz. If I try to adjust just the multiplier to 19.5 to get the CPU to run at 3800MHz (which ran fine on my old motherboard), the memory drops to half speed. I can see this both in the bios or running CPU-Z in WIndows... Any ideas? Thanks, Bob
