RMA'd the GPU, then sent it back today saying its fine. I haven't yet tried to force gen 3 on it. I read somewhere that we require a firmware update on the GPU (4080S in my case). I have an old 1070 runs fine on Auto in BIOs.

Hello!

If there's a firmware update for your video card, I'd suggest installing it.
Then set the correct PCIe lane speed for your x16 slot and for your M.2_1 slot.

Hello!

I have upgraded my PC with a Gigabyte RTX 3080 OC Vision 10G video card (PCIe 4.0 x16).
I've updated the firmware of the GPU to the latest BIOS version (F31), in order to have Resizable BAR support.

In the BIOS of my X670E Taichi motherboard, I have set the PCIe x16 Link speed at: Gen4.

However, my system runs without issues.
(I have benchmarked it extensively).

Maybe, those who have stability issues after setting the PCIe x16 Link speed at Gen4, didn't update the firmware of their GPU, or the BIOS of their motherboard?

There are some problems on the AM5 platform, besides the issue that was mentioned here.

There is also a bug in the Zen 5 microarchitecture that prevents program activations through iLok License Manager too.

About the second issue, AMD stated that they are working on a new firmware: AGESA 1.2.0.2A, which should come out in early november 2024.

Maybe that firmware update will solve both issues.

Hello!

In this case, I'd contact the ASRock Support Center.
They might send you a special BIOS file that solves the issue.
(For that, you should go on the web page of your motherboard).

NOTE:
You'll have to give them the serial number of your motherboard.

No difference when setting both the PCIe x16 Link Speed and M.2_1 Link Speed to Gen4.

System boots but unable to use mouse or keyboard without a 2 or 3 second delay. Stutter / Visual Artifacting / Laggy.

Flipping PCIe x16 Link Speed back to Gen3 and it all works flawlessly.

Happy to test any other ideas as I'm not sure what else to try.

Hello!

Please try the following:
1. Set PCIe x16 Link Speed: Gen4
2. Set M.2_1 Link Speed: Gen4
3. Save (F10) / Reboot

Did anyone ever get any further on this? Running into the exact same thing. Started a 2nd thread here but figured I'd check in on this thread if anyone have a light bulb moment or found something new:

Might be a long shot, but try cleaning the GPU's PCIe connector with CRC Electronics Cleaner, or just alcohol. The other side of the PCIe connection is of course the CPU pads. I assume you never touched the contact pads on the CPU.
