I'd seriously consider now, due to age and soon removal, to be a good time to replace it.

Yes, I've been searching ebay and such and I can find one for about 15 dollars, which is pretty great.
If I do get one, do I need to get a new power supply or better cooling? It still has the original As far as cooling goes, i do have a fan and a heatsink which have always worked pretty good Thanks for the advice |

Core 2 Quads are a great deal now. I wouldn't bother with a dual core for what these Quads are selling for.

Hello everyone
I have an old desktop that my mother uses for web browsing and watching movies that has just become too slow and quite unusable for her. I'm trying to figure out if I can update it a bit for a decent price, since its use is light, instead of buying a completely new desktop. The current config is as follows: MOBO: ASRock G31M-GS CPU: Intel Pentium D 915 RAM: 2gb DDR2 Graphics: ATI Radeon 4300/4500 A friend recommended buying a cheap intel 2core duo or a intel 2 core quad. For the uses i stated above do you think I should go for the duo or the quad (or neither)? I'm also thinking about getting 4gb ram, 2 sticks of 2gb, don't know if 667 or 800. Do you think this will make it run smoother? Never updated or built any pc so thanks for your help, any advice would be appreciated ![]() |
