I didn't get an email advising of our response so I am late in answering.

The change happened several weeks to a month or so ago.  The only physical change I have made in the hardware was I had to replace a power supply.  I installed a Corsair HX850.  There was one problem, I didn't realize that the SATA cables weren't standard between power supplies and I blew out a HDD and an optical drive.  The 12v supply was backwards.  Fortunately the system was on a SSD that survived the issue so I didn't have to reload the system or programs.  I can't say for sure that the sleep/shutdown worked properly after the power supply installation but I believe it did.

I originally installed Win 10 Pro when I built the system.

When I was working with Microsoft on this issue they found that my Win 10 was out of date - not sure what version they found.  They updated Win 10 to the latest release and the problem didn't go away.

I'm not sure what Wake up on Lan is on the UEFI but will investigate as well as looking at powercfg through the command line.

If you have any other thoughts I'd like to hear them.

The problem with updating the UEFI/BIOS is the latest version for your board is the latest version, 3.10, is dated 5/2014, which is long before Windows 10 existed. It is also no doubt a UEFI version that supports Ivy Bridge-E processors, which must be applied carefully and correctly. What UEFI version do you have now?

Can you identify any change that happened that coincides with the start of this situation, a "couple of weeks ago...", as you said. Such as, was that the start of using Windows 10, or did you update to a new version of Windows 10 (Anniversary), or other Windows 10 update? Updates not only fix things, they can break them as well. Many people had problems with upgrade installations of Windows 10 Anniversary.

How did you install Win 10? A clean, new installation or upgrade installation?

Did you install the INF driver ver:10.0.27 and the Intel Management Engine driver ver:11.0.0.1158 from your board's Win 10 download page:

What Windows version did you use before Win 10? Sometimes the Windows Fast Startup feature can cause problems like this. That option can be disabled if you open Power Options, and then click on the "Choose what the power buttons do" option on the left.

You can use the Windows powercfg command in a Command Prompt window to try to determine what seems to be waking the PC.

Do you have the Wake on LAN option enabled in the UEFI? Do you use that feature?

You could try a full UEFI/BIOS clear, by removing the board's battery and moving the CMOS clear jumper to the clear position. You'll need to leave the battery removed for an hour or so to insure any residual power has dissipated, and the UEFI chip's memory has been cleared. You'll loose any UEFI/BIOS profiles when the battery is removed, so if your UEFI has the option, save them to a USB flash drive.
