Thank you for taking the time to reply. If I do take a $100 gamble with the ASUS card I will report back my findings.

Thanks

Hi,
I have recently built a PC using the z170m OC Formula. It has two thunderbolt GPIO ports. One 5 pin for Thunderbolt 2 and one 10-pin for Thunderbolt 3 (aka Alpine Ridge). I cannot find an ASRock Thunderbolt 3 card but I can find an Asus one. My question is, will the Asus one work? And if not, when can I expect to be able to add Thunderbolt 3 to my system? (ie, any idea when a compatible card will be out).

TIA

ASRock does not have a Thunderbolt3 card available in the USA yet, or probably anywhere in the world yet. When they will I don't know, and you will need to ask ASRock support.

I also have no personal experience with the Asus Thunderbolt cards (why can't Intel just have them as their own products.) The compatibility list that Asus claims to have, and is vaguely mentioned in the manuals for their Thunderbolt cards don't include other manufacture's mother boards, so their compatibility with other boards is unknown. Asus would be the best source of this information.

There is a Thunderbolt website that lets you find various Thunderbolt products, which might also help you, here:
