Not necessarily. As you've discovered, it refuses to do 3000. Which it would/should, possibly, if it's compatible. That's why I turned you to contact Crucial. If they do say it is compatible come back here. That's part of the fun of diagnosing, just as you're posting here now. We, YOU, need to find out from Crucial if it is compatible. Otherwise all involved is pulling our hair out for naught.

I am using 2 x 8gb. Dual Channel.. a1+b1.

I am pretty happy with my memory frequency and timings that I am using right now.
But I can't boot in 3000 mhz speed.

I bought recently my first ASRock motherboard. Good one, I am very happy with it. Before that one I had only Asus and Gigabyte mobos. So... I decided this time to go for AsRock Gaming series, the AsRock Z170 Gaming K4 to team up with my also brand new i7-6700K.

I am kind of Crucial fan and bought one of the best kits from them, Crucial Ballistix Elite DDR4 3000 mhz to build my rig.

http://www.crucial.com/usa/en/ble2k8g4d30aeea

And sadly my Asrock mobo even boot with this memory on native speed.  I am surprised, because this ram kit is very good, amazing performance for the price and my asrock mobo isn't compatible.
I am using with downgraded frequency and speed what is very annoying. I can't use its XMP profile also.

I don't want to return my memory kit. So... my question is...
This memory will be supported by Asrock and by my Gaming K4 model? It will come with the next firmware?

Thank you.

Very surprised that memory does not work, Crucial memory is almost generic for Z170 and X99 boards.

I see you have two 8GB DIMMs, which are double sided.

Do you have them in the A1 and B1 slots? That's where they belong. Any double sided memory should be used in the A1 and B1 slots.

Are you using one kit of this memory? 16GB, of two 8GB DIMMs?

Moderators have no information about when and if a particular model of memory will be supported in a future UEFI/BIOS version.

On the Crucial page in your link, there is section for checking memory compatibility. Crucial does not include your board in the list, but every other Z170 ASRock board I checked said the memory you have is compatible. There is no reason other ASRock Z170 boards cannot be used with your memory.

Please check the "Will it work with my system" tool Crucial has on the page in your link.

^^ Huh?

Ive looked and Crucial doesn't yet list this MB in their compatibility listings.

Here, now, I would first check with Crucial using their Memory Support link and inquire of them if this memory kit is compatible with your MB.

We might bang our heads and spend days back and forth but it's prudent now at this time to ask of compatibility before proceeding further.

When you hear back from Crucial I'd like to know their answer please. Then we'll know what to do.

It's my reading here and a bit of Intel experience that most memory compatible with Z170's can/will work. Now, mind you, that is heavily dependent on the CPU too. Maybe more so.

You set these up using their XMP Profile. And it failed to boot.

Have you cleared the BIOS? This would/should be done just prior to you swapping in this 3000 kit.

If you haven't cleared the BIOS yet, by all means do so now. You didn't mention doing this but it is a necessity when swapping memory.

Post back if you have, or post back if you just now did, and the results of having done so please.
