Thanks for the insight. I guess that the Flare X is the better option at this point.

Memory compatibility is the biggest issue with Ryzen systems currently. There have been some frustrated users of many models of DDR4 that were designed for Intel systems. They work to varying degrees, meaning higher speeds are not a given. The XMP profiles, designed for Intel memory controllers, have so far simply not worked with the Ryzen memory controller.

Ryzen does not support DDR4 memory speeds of 3000 and 3400. 3200 is a general limit for ASRock AM4 boards at this time, and may not be achievable with them all, yet. Updates from AMD are still being distributed to mother board manufactures to improve memory speeds.

IMO, the FlareX is a great choice, that is what I use in my X370 Killer SLI/ac board with a 1700X. It's the F4-3200C14D-16GFX kit. It is specifically designed for Ryzen, although currently the best I can do with it is 2933 @ 14 14 14 34, which is the 3200 speed timings. 3000 speed memory can be used at (and will be switched to) 2933, but the best speed you will get depends on the board's UEFI/BIOS at this time.

Ryzen is still a new system, and will take a while to mature with memory compatibility. Don't be discouraged if you can't get your memory at speed above 2666, that will come with time.

Given what we know, memory that uses Samsung B-die memory chips work best with Ryzen. That is the type of chips used in my G.SKILL FlareX model. We have seen other manufactures using both Samsung and Hynix memory chips in the "same" model of memory, although I wonder if they were rated at the same speed.
