Maybe my english is just bad...
I thought they meant that 4TB was the "limit" now, and for example 3 was the limit before :) Nevermind I got it to work with diskpart :) |

Hello again,
As I wrote, I bought a motherboard which is a MSI H81M-P33 This is what I think I saw: BIOS VERSION 1.5 - Improved Intel Rapid Start Technology function. - Enhanced MSI M-Flash function. - Improved system resume function. - Improved 4TB HDD Compatibility. - Updated BIOS Code. https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/support/H81M-P33.html |

Where did you see (or think you saw) that the limit for the size of an HDD is 4TB? That is not correct. IF there was a limit caused by the hardware on a board, and there is no such limit, that would be caused by the Intel SATA controller used in the board's B85 chipset, and ASRock could do nothing about that. The only "limit" that exists for HDDs is caused by using 32 bit MBR partitioning of a drive whose capacity is equal to or greater than 2.2TB. But that is easily overcome by using GPT partitioning when a drive of 2.2TB or greater is initialized and formatted. When a drive is partitioned in GPT, the limit of its capacity is 9.4 Zettabytes, or 9,444,732,965,739,290,427,392 bytes. No drives sold today even begin to approach that size. That is the size limit for a drive on your board, and any board that exists. Using GPT partitioning (64 bit) is not new, and must be used for all high capacity HDDs, like 6TB drives. |

Hello,
I recently bought a motherboard, and found out the limit of a hard drive is 4TB, which is not enough for me, since I want to expand with 2x6TB. I really need to know how many TB's the limit of one hard drive is on the Asrock B85M PRO3 mATX :) |
