There's really no reason for a Windows installation to become corrupted from a BIOS update, I've never heard of this before now in the forum. All the 3.10 BIOS version added was support for Ivy Bridge processors. But it seems your Windows installation was corrupted somehow. All you can do is attempt to repair it, or do a fresh installation. From the automatic repair, which fails, do you then get the Advanced Recovery options? It seems you do since you were able to select using a restore point. The one you need to find and choose is the Reset this PC option. That will reload your Windows installation, with two options. Remove apps and settings but keep your personal files, or a full, new fresh installation, where you will lose all your personal files. You probably want to choose the first one I listed. Another possibility is to boot from your Windows 8.1 installation media, and choose the Repair option. If both of these fail, then it's possible that your OS drive has a problem. Regardless, if you cannot repair, reset or restore your Windows 8.1 installation with any of the options I listed, you likely have no choice but to install Windows again, sorry to say. |

Thanks for your reply.
The Version 3.10. I´m using Windows 8.1. I can´t start Windows in Safe Mode. Everything works fine until the windows sign shows up. Then after a minute the error message shows up and after the restart the automatic repair window shows up. But i can´t go further than that. I checked the boot order and i everything else is on default as before. I never changed anything before the bios update. I don´t know on which Sata setting I was but i didn´t change the default setting. I only downloaded the new bios installed it as it was mentioned in the guide from AS Rock and nothing else. |

Which BIOS version did you update to, the 3.10 version, or the L3.19 Beta version? Did you follow the instructions in this guide: http://www.asrock.com/support/BIOSIG.asp?cat=Windows7 Did you go into the BIOS and check the boot order, and reset any options that you use to their non-default values? A BIOS update resets all the options to their default values. Do you recall which SATA mode you were set to before the BIOS update? No idea what version of Windows you are using, but did you update the Intel IME software, as is stated in the 3.10 BIOS download? Can you start Windows in Safe Mode? All you did was update to the newer ??? BIOS version, and nothing else was done to the PC at all? |

System:
i7-2600K P67 Extreme4 GTX 570 Today i updated my Bios with the latest Version of the AsRock site for my Mainbord. After installation i clicked on restart. Now every time I want to start Windows said there is a failure during the start of Windows and than the system restarts itself and the automatic repair window opens up. I already tried system recovery from an older point but I always get an error that maybe an anti virus system is active and I should turn it off and try it again. What should I do now?
