Thank you for your reply. Can processors with an unlocked multiplier have a BCLK overclocking higher than 102-103 MHz? |

The Hyper BCLK engine provides additional clock stability, beyond what the integrated clock generator on the CPU is capable of. In addition to that it also provides better granularity allowing smaller BCLK increments in more extreme overclocking scenarios.
Basically it does nothing that the average user will find useful but for an overclocker it can and often does yield higher overclocks than a board without the feature. Being able to raise or lower the BCLK by minute margins can often help attain stability in extreme overclocking scenarios, it may not seem like much but for someone shooting for records it can make all the difference. Overall the Hyper BCLK engine provides a more robust platform.

No you cannot, sorry to say. ASRock tried to provide the "Sky OC" feature in some of their Intel 100 series chipset boards, that allowed BCLK over clocking of non-K processors. But that did not follow Intel's rules about over clocking, and ASRock had to disable that feature. A new CPU microcode that is part of the UEFI/BIOS file was added to all UEFI versions after a certain point on those boards that stopped Sky OC from working on non-K processors. That same modification is no doubt standard in every CPU microcode since then. Even prior to that, BCLK over clocking did not work well on any of the non-K Core i processors. You can usually increase the BCLK from the standard 100MHz to 102-103MHz, for a small increase in core speed, but beyond that it won't work and other side affects such as the iGPU no longer working appear. |
