their are other ways of fixing coil whine but they are not recommended for new hardware "will void warranty" you can try to RMA but from my exp its often rejected.
it seems our motherboards have the same VRM setup, for me the sound is from the Chokes right next to the CPU. i got a New Evga supernova that help for my setup. much more quiet with the evga vs my old corsair.
Linus tech tips did a good video on youtube about coil whine. |

The noise is definitely not coming from my power supply and I have a very good PSU. It's the G2 Evga 750 W Power supply. Very well reviewed unit. Can a mod chime in here? Because I'm thinking of doing an RMA. It's annoying that these sounds from the motherboard are loud then my case fans half the time. I've never dealt with a system like that. |

Sounds like Coil whine, my K4 has it also. Sometimes a better power supply can help.

So I have an ASRock X370 Killer SLI/ac motherboard. Its an AMD AM4 socket. I recently started noticing a strange buzzing or hissing sound coming from the case.
At first I thought it was my fans. So I tested my pc with the case fans off. The noise persisted. Then I tested by slowing down the CPU fan. The noise persisted. I then slowed turned off my GPU fans...but the noise was still there. The hissing ramps up when gaming...so I thought it was the GPU. But then I thought to remove my GPU and start my PC. Sure enough the sound was still there. The noise sounds highly similar to that of a working mechanical hard drive. Except my system uses an SSD. Anyone ever have a board do this? |
