I have an ASRock J4205-ITX and experience problems with the HDMI port and the onboard Intel HD Graphics, me and a lot of other people. I found helpful information on the Kodi.tv website, in the support forum. Search out the "Hardware" category and the topic "Intel Apollo Lake" (currently on page 2). This topic contains 118 pages of discussion about HDMI problems with the ASRock Intel embedded boards. In relation to your problem, it appears that any HD Graphics firmware above version 1.66 will not work. Intel no longer offers version 1.66 for download, but Kodi.tv forum member "fritsch" has made it available. His post with the download link can be found in the topic on page 117. Here's the link, if it will post on this forum. I burned the 1.66 firmware into my J4205-ITX without any problems, however, it didn't completely solve my HDMI black screen problem.

Hello,
after updating Windows 10 to the Fall Creator Update 1709 I installed the latest Intel graphics driver and flashed the latest HDMI firmware 1.72 from the Intel NUC website following their instructions in all details. Now I can't get the board to put out anything via HDMI. I can see the dots rotating when Windows is booting but that's it. The display (4k Sony TV) loses the signal after a while and tells me "no signal". Also another FullHD display behaves this way. Since I only use this pc as a media player I thought I'd go back to an older Windows version but when I try to install it I only get a picture as long as I am working from the booting USB device. As soon as the freshly installed Win is booting there is a weired screen showing a half blue and a half black picture and a little later the signal is lost. Originally I updated the graphics driver because it wouldn't let me choose UHD resolution anymore although it has never been a problem in the past before I updated Windows. Do you guys have any idea how I can fix this myself? Thanks very much! |
